Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge)
It is the most ancient bridge in Florence, the only saved during the Second World War. The current construction belongs to the XIV century, but the first bridge was built by Romans on the place where the river Arno was less large and around it the Roman colony of Florentia developed.

During its history it had hosted the workshop by skin tanners and then by butchers, because it was simple to throw away the production scraps in the river. In the Middle Ages it became seat of jewels craftsmen, who divided it into lot of small shops, till existing nowadays.

In the middle of the bridge, on both sides, there had been opened some round arches with a suggestive panoramic view over the Arno. On the upper side of the bridge runs the Corridoio Vasariano (Vasari's Corridor) which join the Pitti Palace to the Uffizi Gallery.
