The public transportation by bus in the isle of Capri is provided by two private companies: the S.I.P.P.I.C. Capri which (moreover the Funicular joining the harbour to the centre of Capri) manages the bus lines among the several localities in the town of Capri and between Capri and Anacapri; and the Staiano Autotrasporti, which manages the bus lines between the centre and periferic locations in Anacapri. In details, the SIPPIC Autotrasporti provides the following bus lines: a) Capri-Anacapri; b) Capri-Marina Grande; c) Capri-Marina Piccola; d) Marina Grande-Anacapri (direct line, one ticket); e) Marina Piccola-Anacapri (direct line, only summer with shorter schedule). The Staiano Autotrasporti provides instead the following bus lines: a) Anacapri-Faro (Lighthouse); b) Anacapri-Grotta Azzurra (Blue Grotto). The SIPPIC line Capri-Anacapri has six stops along the centre of Anacapri (Piazza Vittoria, Cimitero, Paradiso, Grotta Azzurra, Caprile, Linciano) among which the exchange station with the stationery by Staiano buses is the 2nd one, nearby the Cemetery of Anacapri.
Since April 2001 is active the tickets integration between these 2 companies, so that the ticket cost for each single route is the same (€ 1,30 per person) and since July 2002 the traditional paper tickets have been replaced by an electronic system with smart cards "Unico Capri", on which it is possible to charge more single tickets (€ 1,30 each) or the following cumulative tickets: a) Hourly ticket € 2,10 which allows 1 run on funicular and 1 run on a bus within one hour from its first use; b) Daily ticket € 6,70 which permits to use 2 runs on the Funicular (return) and unlimited runs on buses both by SIPPIC and Staiano. To be noticed that when you buy a smart-card, you are required to leave a caution deposit of € 1,00 that you can take back before leaving from Capri at the ticket office where you bought it. Or you can keep it as a souvenir, since each card shows on its back a panoramic view of Capri, so you can collect cards with different views. Along the bus route you can buy the ticket directly on board by the driver.
When you land at the port of Capri, the SIPPIC ticket office is outside the port on the right, the Funicular entrance in front of the port exit, and the buses stationery always on the right, few meters after the ticket office. When you arrive at Capri centre by the funicular, the bus stationary is on the right after about 100 meters. When you arrive by bus to Anacapri, the driver usually advice to get off, but remember that at Piazza Vittoria there is only the first stop in Anacapri centre, even if the main one: if your hotel or your destination is further on (as example near the end-of-line, Caprile or Linciano) choose the stop more comfortable to you.
